Primary Purpose:

To provide work on a temporary basis to a campus or a department. Temporary employment may be required during peak workloads, when additional assistance is needed for a special project, for seasonal work, or emergency situations.

Job Summaries for Temporary Services:
TES General Labor – work of a temporary or part-time basis, performs a variety of unskilled labor tasks such as removing debris and litter, cleaning, loading and unloading materials or supplies, operating various types of equipment. Salary Range $8-$10/hour

TES Service – work of a temporary or part-time basis; responsible for work resulting in or contributing to the comfort, convenience, or hygiene of others or which contribute to the upkeep and care of building or facilities. Salary Range $8-$10/hour

TES Clerical – work of a temporary or part-time basis; responsible for recording and retrieving data and/or information and other paperwork required in an office and responsible for internal and external communications. Salary Range $10-$12/hour

TES Craftwork of a temporary or part-time basis; responsible for work requiring specialized manual or mechanical skills or training acquired through licensure or on-the-job training. Salary Range $10-$17/hour

TES Technician – work of a temporary or part-time basis; responsible for work requiring basic scientific or technical knowledge and manual skill obtained through specialized post-secondary education or through equivalent on-the-job training. Salary Range $10-$25/hour

TES Paraprofessional – work of a temporary or part-time basis; responsible for some of the duties of a professional or technician in a  supportive role which usually requires less formal education and/or experience normally required for the professional or technical status. Salary Range $8-$12/hour

TES Information Technology – work of a temporary or part-time basis; responsible for work involved in the application of system analysis techniques and procedures; the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, or modification of computer systems or computer programs. Salary Range $10-$25/hour

TES Professional – work of a temporary or part-time basis; responsible for work requiring specialized and theoretical knowledge which is usually acquired through a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction or work that requires supervision of two or more employees in a professional setting. Salary Range $15-$35/hour

Teacher/Professional –work of a temporary or part-time basis; work requiring professional preparation such as tutoring, nursing support, or hourly instructional employment. The temporary rate option is available only for positions that do not fit under the full or half-time substitute rate. Salary Range $15-$25/hour
Qualifications (Dependent upon Temporary Position):

• Current NISD High School Junior/Senior students preferred for certain temporary work

Equipment Used (Dependent upon Temporary Position):

Tools/Equipment Used: Small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; light truck or van
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district-wide travel.

Working Conditions:

Physical demands/environment factors: May require standing for long periods of time. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. This position requires occasional prolonged and irregular hours, frequent interruptions, and occasional stressful conditions. The position requires repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of computers. The position requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, prolonged sitting, and keyboarding. Position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds to waist high.
