Primary Purpose:
The Teacher Support Specialist IT position provides ongoing support for new teachers to NISD. The Teacher Support Specialist IT is a liaison between new teachers and the technology division to ensure new teachers are provided with ongoing technology integration support as they begin their time in Northwest ISD.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in the field of Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
- Three (3) years or more of teaching experience
- Experience with instructional technology tools, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), online course design, and classroom technology integration
- Experience in developing and documenting procedures to support instructional technology processes
- Experience as a teacher mentor, campus mentor coordinator, or instructional coach, with the ability to model and support best instructional practices
- Experience designing and delivering professional development sessions for teachers and staff
- Exceptional organizational abilities, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with principals, teachers, students, and staff
- Demonstrates initiative and a high degree of self-motivation, with the capacity to work independently, innovatively solve problems, and proactively address instructional technology needs.
Major Responsibilities & Duties:
In order to support all new teachers, the Teacher Support Specialist IT position will:
- New Hire Orientation and Support
- Support new hire orientations alongside Human Resources and IT leadership to provide initial instructional technology support and onboarding of new staff.
- Coordinate with the Technology Campus Support Manager and IT leadership to plan and prepare delivery of the technology portion of new hire orientation and serve as the primary instructional technology support contact for new teachers throughout their first year.
- Maintain an ongoing list of newly hired staff over the course of the year to include summer and mid-year hires in order to provide all new staff with timely and appropriate support.
- Instructional Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with the Instructional Technology team to align efforts for effective campus support, including providing updates on assistance and resources, communication with new staff members, and ongoing support relationships on the campuses they serve.
- Work closely with the Teacher Support Specialists for Curriculum & Instruction to coordinate support for new teachers, provide ongoing individualized assistance, and offer group learning opportunities based on team or campus needs.
- Partner with Curriculum & Instruction Content Coordinators and Instructional Coaches to conduct classroom observations, provide instructional support, and model technology integration.
- Act as a liaison between new teachers and district support staff, ensuring comprehensive support and alignment with district resources and protocols.
- Instructional Support and Integration
- Work with teachers across K-12 classrooms to integrate technology that enhances curriculum delivery, improves instruction, and elevates learning experiences.
- Integrate instructional technology models with existing curriculum and instruction learning frameworks to promote depth of thinking and increase cognitive demand.
- Provide on-demand support for district-adopted technology and digital tools such as, but not limited to, digital learning environments, learning management systems, communication tools, mobile management solutions, and engagement/assessment tools.
- Professional Learning and Development
- Identify instructional technology needs and provide for professional learning for new staff. This includes developing and providing training for new hires, developing training materials, and the development of online professional development.
- Deliver professional development during individual coaching, PLCs, or larger staff meetings in conjunction with district, campus, or individual needs.
- Manage and facilitate year-round Technology Proficiency Courses (New Hire Foundations of Technology (Level 1) and Technology Integration Academy (Level 2)), including course updates, LMS management, tracking completion status for all staff, informing eligible staff of course access and enrollment information, and notifying campus administrators of their staff’s completion status.
- Assist in the development and implementation of instructional technology integration models in accordance with the ISTE standards.
- Design and publish multimedia resources (online learning modules, instructional videos, digital products, print materials, etc.) as needed to support district learning needs.
- Additional Duties
- Support district-wide events, such as Expo and the ENGAGE Conference, and collaborate with IT to deliver resources and complete projects that support district initiatives.
- Model safe, ethical, and responsible technology use, ensuring awareness of privacy, security, and digital citizenship best practices.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information about schools, teachers, and classrooms
- Adhere to state, district, and school regulations and policies.

Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district wide travel. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, pushing, sitting, and overhead reaching. Position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds waist high.
